|
|
Hello,
We currently have a few of your Quixote cards. We're thinking about picking up a UWB module, but to reduce cost, we'd like to pair it with a PCI SBC. Do you guys have any recommendations for 3rd party products? What sort of support is there? I'm especially concerned about compatability and throughput over the PMC/XMC and I don't want to have to write any drivers. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
-Brandon |

Any SBC running Win2k/XP that confirms to the PCI bus specification will be able to utilize the UWB. All of our PMC modules have been tested on a variety of standard PCI desktops, cPCI chassis and on our own DSP carrier cards that feature PMC sites, such as the Quadia and Quixote products.

Our PMC modules are supplied with Malibu, a Host library of routines to configure and utilize modules such as the UWB. Malibu includes Win2k/XP drivers for the modules, and routines to configure the logic on the module interact with standard and custom registers, plus full bus-master support. So, you can use Malibu immediately to develop applications which stream data from the module. _________________ phpbb1 |

What about the XMC connector? The spec says the card is VITA 42.0 compatible, so that just covers the physical mechanical/electrical spec, not the protocol. What protocol are you using? I assume this core is located on the small Virtex 2Pro part, along with the PCI core? I'm curious because I've found a SBC with VITA 42.3 (PCI Express) support, and I'd like to preserve as much of the bandwidth as possible with the host PC. If you are using something else, would it be possible for me to purchase 3rd party cores for one of the FPGAs to implement the PCI Express end link?
Are you familiar with this SBC?

Also, when will the VP50 part boards be available? Sales told me they were not in production at the moment?
Thanks,

We are using a custom protocol. The VHDL source for this protocol is included in the development kit. While we may implement a standard protocol over XMC sometime in the future, I can't provide details at this time.

The packet protocol is entirely the responsibility of the VP40/50, not the Virtex 2 Pro. The Pro is responsible for bus-mastering data to the Host PCI bus, and is not involved in XMC traffic.

Since the protocol is implemented within the VP40/50, you can readily integrate third-party components to implement the desired protocol.
No, sorry.

The VP50 design has already been released to production. At this moment, we are out of stock. Delivery is eight-weeks ARO. _________________ phpbb1 |
