I am using an X3-Timing XMC module in conjunction with the 80181-0 XMC-to-PCIe X1 carrier card with Windows XP-Pro SP3. The problem is that Windows is failing to properly install the new PCI device. The plug-n-play monitor tries to auto-install the new device, but can't find a suitable driver. I can see the device is not installed properly in the Device Manager -- and it provides the details to show the II vendor ID. The II product page says no software is necessary.
When I try to run Timer.exe I can not get anything to output from the X3-Timing module. What else can I try? |

The 80181-0 is a desktop PCI Express to cabled PCI Express (CPEX) adapter. In addition to this adapter, you must connect a x1 cable between the adapter and the DAQ-Node enclosure which presumable hosts the X3-Timing module. Is that your configuration? What length CPEX cable are you using? Is power applied to the DAQ-Node?
While no driver is needed for the 80181-0 adapter, a driver is certainly needed by the X3-Timing card. Did you download and install the latest drivers for this card, including Malibu and the example code from http://www.innovative-dsp.com/cgi-bin/dlWindowsBeta.cgi?product=X3-Timing?
If you have taken all of the steps listed above and you still cannot properly control the X3-Timing, you may either try all of the above in a different PC using a different motherboard or return the equipment for diagnosis at the factory. If you wish, the entire PC can be returned and we'll look at the entire system and software setup. |

| My apoligies... I copied the incorrect part number. I am using the 80172-0 (XMC to PCI Express Adapter Board, Single Lane). My configuration is that I connected the X3-Timing XMC module directly to the XMC-to-PCIe carrier. I have no cables (power or otherwise) connected to the carrier card. My only connections, other than the PCIe slot itself, is a few of the MMCX connectors at the X3-Timing front panel. |
