In general, it is safe to remove the fan on the adapter hosting an X3 module, since their power consumption is low compared to the X3 modules.

However, after removing the fan, closely monitor the board temperature as reported in the example program while streaming at full rate on all channels. in the unlikely event the temperature reaches 82C, the board will power itself off to avoid damage.
